Policing is a single national function. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is, in its own words, "a uniformed organisation under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs"; there is no state or municipal police. Specialist national agencies handle particular fields — for example the Central Narcotics Bureau for drugs and the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau for corruption.
