Official name
Politiskolen
Commonly rendered in English as
The Police School — a rendering in common use, not necessarily the institution’s own name.
System
Denmark
Who runs it
The Danish police, which publishes the school under “Om politiet” on its own site. Rigspolitiet has a page of its own.
Does it recruit officers?
Not a recruiting authority

This institution trains. It does not decide who joins a police service. Applications to join are made to the service, not to the school.

Does it award degrees?
Not established

The sources read do not state whether this institution awards academic qualifications in its own right. Naming a bachelor or master programme is not the same as stating a degree-awarding status, so nothing is claimed here.

What it is

The Danish police publishes Politiskolen as part of itself, and describes the police educations it delivers as developing a candidate mentally and physically and opening several career routes. The school operates two education centres — Uddannelsescenter Vest in Vejle and Uddannelsescenter Øst in Brøndby — both reachable on police addresses. It is the plainest kind of institution in this family and a useful counterweight to the universities in it: a service’s own school, with premises, doing entry training.

What kind of training it provides

Taken from the institution’s own account of what it does. A body can carry out several of these, and most do.

  • Initial training — teaching that takes a person into the service
  • In-service training — teaching for people already serving

SCOPE: the Danish Politiskolen only. The Danish police's own page for its school, published under 'Om politiet' on politi.dk and read directly. Supports the official name, that the police publishes the school as part of itself — which is what establishes the operator — and that the school operates two named education centres, Uddannelsescenter Vest in Vejle and Uddannelsescenter Øst in Brøndby, whose contact addresses are on the police domain. Supports that the school delivers the police educations. Establishes nothing about admission requirements, which the page links to rather than states.
