What it is
The Police of the Czech Republic is one force for the whole country. Its own account of its structure is the Police Presidium (Policejní prezidium), nationwide central units (celostátní útvary), and fourteen Regional Police Directorates (Krajská ředitelství policie). The regional tier matters for what it is not: a regional directorate is a territorial subdivision of the national force, not a police service belonging to a region, and a reader who assumes otherwise will read Czech policing as decentralised when it is not.
