Police ranks
How police careers are structured in Singapore
What the Force publishes is schemes and tracks, not one ladder — including a specialist track that advances without the rank progression running alongside it.
Does the Singapore Police Force run a single rank ladder?
The Singapore Police Force’s own career material is organised around entry schemes and tracks rather than around an ordered list of ranks. A Direct-Entry Sergeant scheme exists alongside an Inspector track, and the Force states that "high-performing Direct-Entry Sergeants can be directly promoted to the rank of Inspector within the first few years in the Force, even without a degree". A separate specialist track offers Senior Specialist, Principal Specialist and Expert stages as an alternative to ordinary rank progression — so in this system deepening technical expertise is a published career path rather than a departure from one.
There is no single ordered ladder here
Entry schemes and parallel tracks: a Direct-Entry Sergeant scheme, an Inspector track, and a specialist track with Senior Specialist, Principal Specialist and Expert stages. The Force does publish a rank list, but as an image with no accompanying text, so the ranks themselves are not reproduced here.

Supports that the Force runs entry schemes and tracks rather than presenting a single ordered ladder on this page: a Direct-Entry Sergeant scheme, an Inspector track, and a specialist track with Senior Specialist, Principal Specialist and Expert stages offered as an alternative to ordinary rank progression; and that "high-performing Direct-Entry Sergeants can be directly promoted to the rank of Inspector within the first few years in the Force, even without a degree".
